Louis Moinet – Mobilis

The first and only Double Tourbillon whose function is, a watch complication to power – the first patent application of its kind.

To achieve this, two large Tourbillon cages, each having a diameter of 14.9 mm, had to be designed. What’s more, they were 1.75 mm is arranged on the dial; Not only that, one has to rotate clockwise and the other counterclockwise (second patent application). And most important of all, they have to be made of modern materials, so that they are as light as possible (0.4 gr per cage) to raise, while the force, the provision still requires the clock complication to life.

The sidereal complication itself consists of two titanium plates, a driven on the other side by a reverse gear system. The lower plate is hand painted and shows three celestial bodies in the cosmos: The moon, Mars and Mercury. Louis Moinet has each of them decorated with authentic, exclusive meteorite fragments and powder. Mercury is the only of the three, for the origin of the material is uncertain – despite which it is the most valuable. In fact, the extraterrestrial Sahara is 99555 material known as “Rosetta Stone” more than 4 566 of 200 000. billion years old – the oldest fragment in the solar system.
